Great Idea for Family Getaways ~ Kids Packing Lists!

I forgot to include this in the past few blogs. One thing my kids have been doing since before they could read is ~ packing for themselves! Not for the week long vacays but the long weekend getaways. It is a great way to get them involved and excited while teaching them a bit of organization and responsibility. I developed a packing list on MS Powerpoint many years ago with pictures. If they needed three pairs of underwear it would have three pictures of underwear next to the words 3 pairs of underwear (who woulda thunk I could put the word underwear four times in one sentence?). And so on. If we were going to swimming it would include bathing suits etc. They are so cute each waiting for their very own copy of the packing list then heading upstairs with list and pencil in hand ~ ready to go! Each one knows where their suitcase is located in my closet. They cross off each item as they pack it. Now, I am not saying I don't check the bags after they are done to be sure we've got what we need and no one packed the hermit crab. I just think that someday Grayson's wife will thank me for teaching him to pack for himself!
